The New Orleans Saints chapter of Dez Bryant’s career could very well be over before it even had the chance to begin.
Bryant was helped off the field at he end of Friday afternoon’s practice after suffering what the Saints fear is a torn Achilles, per reports.
This was only the second practice for Bryant as a member of the Saints after coming to a contract agreement with New Orleans earlier this week.
“Things was just starting to heat up for me,” Bryant said on Twitter a few hours after the injury. “I won’t question the man upstairs … this is the ultimate test … thank you everyone for the prayers.”
The three-time Pro Bowl receiver hasn’t played in an NFL game since Week 17 of last season. After being released by the Cowboys in April, Bryant had interest from other teams, but he was selective in the process before landing in New Orleans.
“Hate for something like that to happen to any player, especially Dez,” said Cowboys COO Stephen Jones Friday afternoon on 105.3 The Fan. “I was really fired up for him. I thought it was a great fit for him. I’m disappointed for Dez. Hate that for Sean and Mickey as well.”
