Bryan Broaddus, DallasCowboys.com writer and former NFL personnel male, joined the G-Bag Nation exhibit on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM] to talk all issues Dallas Cowboys through the NFL scouting combine. Here are some of the highlights:
Was it the suitable shift to carry again Jason Witten?
Broaddus: “I was hopeful that they were being just likely to draft tight ends. Perhaps Tyler Eifert on a one-year offer or a little something like that. This staff retains telling me we are young, we are young, we are young, we are young. And I can realize Jason Witten wanting to come again. I get it. … Could he be a bridge? Yeah, completely. But let’s be sincere, is Jason Witten likely to be a backup player? Is he likely to want to do that? No, he is not.
“Jason Witten’s got a lot of delight. He is been a starter all his existence. He is performed a substantial range of snaps. He is likely to feel he can carry on to nevertheless play. And so, I hope that doesn’t harm them mainly because this draft is really, really deep in tight ends, and I hope that doesn’t acquire them out of the market place of grabbing one of these fellas.”
How significant has the need to seem at defensive ends turn into immediately after the Gregory suspension?
Broaddus: “Talking to Rod Marinelli before we came up to [the combine], he was wanting for defensive linemen, time period. It is really not just saying we have got to have tackles and that’s it. I feel that they were being likely to seem for defensive ends. I feel they’ve got the scenario where by – you talk about Taco and Crawford and Lawrence and Armstrong, they’ve got fellas – but they’re wanting for depth over-all.
“I feel that kind of bit them in the rear a tiny bit in December when they came in this article to Indianapolis – that was eye opening. And then the Rams activity, it was incredibly eye opening that they failed to have the depth and the power. Even however they performed well all year, individuals kind of games kind of opened their eyes that they need to get a tiny improved depth.”
